Catch up - is this overgliding?

Postby deepArne » Mon May 21, 2012 12:52 pm

I have used the catch-up-drill a lot, and I really think it has helped me to improve my stroke. However my swimming coach think I do this overlapping stroke also when I swim regularly, and he says I have to drop the glide. Is this overgliding, and will the Overgliders guide help me lose this bad habit? I swim 100 in 1:27 and 400 in 7:27, and the Swim Type test gives me and even score between Arnie, Kicktastic, Overglider and Swinger. When I swim 400 in a fast effort my frequencie is 23-24 strokes per length (25 m pool) i.e. 50-55 s.p.m.
Thanks, deepArne:)

In short, yes the catch up drill comes with its side effects, and so does the one-arm drill with the other in the front.

The overglider guide can help you fixing this, I wouldn't rule out the Catch Master Class dvd though...

Any recommendations on how to best proceed? I'm an Arnie other than not raising my head to breathe.

Given my ape index should I aim for a swinger style? Would I be better off getting the Arnie correction guide or the swim smooth box set?

Hi Noomi, what do you mean by the swim smooth box set? Do you mean the Clean up Your Stroke DVD Box Set?

Guides are always a good choice, as they talk to you in a way that no other Swim Smooth product does.
