Re: Beginner getting despondent

Hi Don, Having re-played your short "surface view" video in topic "Am I overglider", feel fairly certain you were never prone to the "sinky legs" problem! Your heels seem to break the surface OK now and your legs appear to be quite high in the water. I would guess you h...

Re: Beginner getting despondent

Speaking from my own experience, the good front crawl starts from good kicking, and balance... Forget for a moment about free style, and concentrate on your legs. Start swimming drills in shallow water - when you need breath in just stop for the moment, and breath in. Start looking for situation, wh...

Re: Am I overglider

I believe my breathing out is ok now. A worked hard on it, and in underwater video it looks ok - mayby from time to time I delay breathing out (it is new ability for me, and I still must think about breathing out to do it properly - bubble - bubble - stretch is really helpful), but basically I have ...

Re: Learning by myself at the age of 42 ?

Hi There is a video for learning to swim from scratch that has been around for some time: http://www.swimsmooth.com/learn2swim.html Upps I overlooked it  If it is as good material as TI, then definitely go with Swim Smooth. TI materials was (for me) very clear and easy to follow with very goo...

Re: Learning by myself at the age of 42 ?

What I must say is that Swim Smooth site is (in my opinion) not the best choice for learning swiming from scratch... I would recommend TI DVD, which is superior in leading you for every phase of swimming from simple balance drills to full stroke. Unfortunately there is trade off - TI teach you bad h...

Re: Am I overglider

Unfortunately I have. It is not seen from this angle + it is first 25m. It's looks I have quite good body balance on first 50m, but after few lenghts my bum is sinking and I start kicking more and more from my knees. I'm working on my kicking technique and trying to press harder with my chest. Yeste...

Am I overglider

Hi, I started swimming as huge overglider, and now I'm working on it to develop smooth stroke. This is my last video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiAaerXI-Gc Can you tell me if I'm still overglider? I'm asking, because I have hard times trying distinguish small overglider from smooth type. BTW ye...

Question about SS plans

Hi, I bought SS plans for Oly/HiM Level 1. On Session 2 I have sth like this: 600m fins [arrow up] 6/3/6 [arrow down] f/s In the beginig section f/s is described as "free style without any assistance". My question is - am I supposed to perform 25m 6/3/6 with fins, and then 25m free style w...
